GC for 22.03 Generally well bonded and stable. Snowpack will soften at all elevations due to a slow thaw. Avalanche Hazard Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will be generally well bonded and stable, gradually softening to summit level on all aspects. Greatest snow accumulations will be found above 900 metres, particularly on North-West to North-East aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Little change with a dry day expected. Milder temperatures will be a feature of the period, with the freezing level above the summits. Winds will be fresh and from the South-East. Observed Weather Influences: Another dry sunny day with light South-South-Easterly winds at midday. Settled high pressure with an overnight frost giving a cold start to the day. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is generally well bonded, being firm and icy at all elevations. The snow surface only softened slowly on Southerly aspects where exposed to the sun. Isolated patches of shallow windslab were observed on North aspects above 900 metres. These were limited in extent and avoidable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
