Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on steep, wind-drifted slopes facing north through east at higher elevations. You can reduce your risk by avoiding areas below ridges or cross-loaded gullies where you find stiffer, smooth-looking snow. Seek out softer snow in sheltered slopes as a safer option.
