Avalanche Summary

The most dangerous slopes face northwest, north, and northeast and are near and above treeline, but you might be able to trigger a large avalanche on most steep slopes facing the north half of the compass. In large avalanche paths or on steep slopes, you could easily trigger an avalanche on a weak layer under the recent snow. Once moving, slides could break to deeper weak layers or peel out additional slabs. Evidence is spotty, and observers are finding some slopes appear more stable while triggering avalanches nearby. Make cautious and conservative terrain choices. Safer travel options exist on south-facing slopes in the morning before the sun warms up the slopes, and you see some small loose avalanches on very steep, sunny slopes.
