    Strong northwesterly winds are redistributing new snow into thin wind slabs in isolated areas. Watch for wind-loaded pockets, especially around ridgecrest and in extreme terrain.

Snowpack Summary

10-20 cm of moist snow is refreezing into a hard surface as freezing levels descend. Above 700 m, 50 cm of settling snow sits over a hard crust.

The mid and lower snowpack is well-settled and consolidated.

  • If you are increasing your exposure to avalanche terrain, do it gradually as you gather information.
  • Carefully evaluate steep lines for wind slabs.
  • A crust on the surface will help bind the snow together, but may make for tough travel conditions.
