LO for 16/3. Snowpack becoming wet at all levels overnight. Stability generally improving. Low avalanche hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will become saturated at all levels overnight and into Thursday. Snowpack stability will generally improve however some surface instabilities will be present on steeper slopes. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level is expected to rise above the summits overnight with periods of snow turning to rain. South-Easterly winds will be strong overnight before briefly becoming light during the morning and then increasing again in the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: After a brief snow shower this morning, it has been a generally dry day with the freezing level around 300 metres. Moderate South-Westerly winds over the summits. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of windslab are present on many aspects. Greatest accumulations are on steep South-West, West and North-West aspects above 1000 metres. Some redistribution has occurred during the day onto North-Easterly aspects. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
