Humans who venture into steep avalanche starting zones at the upper elevations may be able to trigger shallow wind slabs up to one foot in depth. Small slides can have serious consequences in unforgiving terrain. Hazards associated with shallow snow depths are prevalent.

Avalanche Discussion

A weak disturbance with limited moisture and associated cold front will bring some cloud cover overnight before mostly sunny skies return during the day on Sunday. Overnight lows in the mountains will be near 10 degrees before rising into the mid-20s during the day. Westerly ridgetop winds will veer to the east at 5 to 15 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low on Sunday. Above 9,000 feet, skiers and riders might be able to trigger an isolated pocket of slab up to a foot deep in very steep, avalanche prone terrain. Elsewhere, avalanches are unlikely.
