Lo esencial

At the upper elevations the interface between hard old snow surfaces and the new snow that fell on Friday night and Saturday morning is a potential bed surface for avalanche activity. Pockets of wind slab up to 18 inches in depth could be human triggered in steep terrain. Abundant sunshine and increasing temperatures will increase the sensitivity of these slabs to human triggers as the day warms. These avalanches could be large enough to injure or bury a person. The consequences of being caught in a small avalanche during early season conditions are amplified due to the shallow snow cover. Wet, loose snow sloughs are possible on steep sunlit slopes.
