Avalanche Discussion
( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Snow is expected tonight into Sunday afternoon as another system passes over the area. Accumulations of up to seven inches are possible by the afternoon. Temperatures are to rise into the mid twenties and winds will be from the southwest with averages of fifteen to twenty five miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate above 9000 feet. Skiers and riders have the potential to trigger soft slabs to depth of two feet in steep wind loaded terrain. Below 9000 feet the hazard will be low and avalanches are unlikely except for in shallow isolated pockets and new snow sluffs if significant snowfall occurs.
