Lo esencial

Above 8,500 feet, recently developed soft slabs up to 18 inches deep could be triggered by backcountry travelers on very steep, wind loaded slopes. Some potential persists for deeper slabs, which involve the majority of the snowpack, to be triggered on weak, faceted snow near the ground, particularly on shaded slopes that held snow from October. These slides could be initiated after several people have already skied a slope. Below 8,500 feet, avalanches are unlikely except for small, isolated pockets in very steep terrain.

Avalanche Discussion

Moist, warmer air moving in aloft will bring periods of light snow to the mountains. Accumulations of a couple inches every 12 hours or so are expected. Lesser amounts are likely in the valleys. Temperatures will drop into the teens overnight and rise into the 20s during the day. Winds will be southwest at 10 to 20 miles per hour.At the higher elevations the general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Skiers or riders who venture into steep north facing terrain could trigger slab avalanches up to 30 inches deep. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 8,500 feet where the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW.
