Avalanche Activity

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on wind-loaded slopes of all aspects. The number and size of avalanche prone locations will increase with altitude.

The more recent wind slabs have formed especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at elevated altitudes. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs are in some cases prone to triggering. They can be released easily. or in isolated cases naturally, in all aspects at intermediate and high altitudes. This also applies at a distance from ridgelines. In some cases the dry avalanches can release the moist old snow as well and reach large size in isolated cases. Individual moist snow slides are possible, in the event of solar radiation especially on extremely steep sunny slopes.

Snowpack Structure

In particular at intermediate and high altitudes further wind slabs formed. The strong wind has transported the new snow significantly. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be quite good. Since Friday numerous medium-sized and large avalanches occurred naturally. In the last four days on wind-loaded slopes medium-sized avalanches were released. The old snowpack will be moist, also in all aspects below approximately 2700 m. Above the tree line snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will decrease gradually.
