Avalanche Activity

The snowpack will be generally well bonded. As a consequence of the snowfall the size of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses.

In the course of the day danger level 2 (moderate) will be reached above approximately 2500 m. The new snow can be released by a single winter sport participant. The older wind slabs are mostly small and can only be released in isolated cases. The avalanche prone locations are covered with new snow and are difficult to recognise.

Snowpack Structure

5 to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall above approximately 2000 m. The new snow will be deposited on a crust on steep shady slopes above approximately 2500 m. In particular on sunny slopes below approximately 2500 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying.
