Lo esencial

Most terrain is generally safe from avalanche hazards.  Stay alert for the small chance of triggering a thin wind drift or shallow sluff in high-consequence terrain.  Seek out soft, wind protected snow for the safest and highest-quality riding conditions.

Avalanche Discussion

We've phased the wind slab problem off the list and are moving to "Normal Caution".  Wind slab issues have become increasingly rare since wind transport ended last Friday.  Observers did report a collapse in a wind drift yesterday; I wouldn't rule out the rare chance, especially if you are riding in high-consequence terrain above rocks or cliffs.  In wind-sheltered terrain, you can confidently rule out any concerns for triggering a slab avalanche, though be aware of the potential for minor sluffs.

An approaching storm is expected to deliver up to an inch or two of new snow with blustery north winds this evening.  That's not enough to change the danger rating unless we exceed the snow forecast.  Given how weak our snow surfaces are, it won't take much new snow for sensitive wind drifts to form.  Before you head out for your pre-turkey turns, check in with tomorrow morning's products to see how the storm fared and if conditions are changing.
