Wind slabs represent the main danger.

As a consequence of the sometimes strong wind the already large wind slabs have increased in size additionally on Wednesday. These are to be found in all aspects. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain above approximately 2000 m and in places that are protected from the wind. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs are in many cases extensive and in some cases prone to triggering. They are quite prevalent and are clearly recognisable to the trained eye, caution is to be exercised on very steep slopes at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. Especially at intermediate and high altitudes these avalanche prone locations are more widespread. Wind slabs can sometimes be released by a single winter sport participant. Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for restraint.

The strong wind has transported the new snow. The weather conditions gave rise to unfavourable bonding of the snowpack in some places. In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on a weakly bonded old snowpack. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. In all aspects snow depths vary greatly above approximately 2000 m, depending on the infuence of the wind. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions a little snow is lying.

The weather will be sunny. The avalanche danger will persist.
