Tendency

Over a wide area over a wide area 20 to 40 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall on Wednesday. As a consequence of new snow and a strong to storm force wind from southerly directions, sometimes large wind slabs will form. Gliding snow requires caution.

Avalanche Activity

Wind slabs require caution. Gliding avalanches require caution.

As a consequence of new snow and a strong wind from southerly directions, avalanche prone wind slabs will form in some places. Caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2400 m, as well as adjacent to ridgelines in high Alpine regions. Avalanches are only small but can be released even by a single winter sport participant. A latent danger of gliding avalanches exists. This applies on steep grassy slopes below approximately 2600 m. Avalanches can reach medium size. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided.

Snowpack Structure

In some localities up to 10 cm of snow will fall above approximately 1400 m. The wind will be strong to storm force at times. Fresh wind slabs will be deposited on soft layers in particular on shady slopes at elevated altitudes. The old snowpack will be moist below approximately 2400 m.
