Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs: As a consequence of new snow and wind an unfavourable avalanche situation will be encountered in some localities.

As a consequence of new snow and a strong southwesterly wind, wind slabs formed during the course of the night above approximately 2100 m. They can be released easily. or in isolated cases naturally,. The avalanches in these regions are medium-sized and in many cases easily released. In all aspects individual small gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are possible as the penetration by moisture increases. This applies on very steep slopes below approximately 2100 m. The conditions are treacherous for ski touring and snowshoe hiking outside marked and open pistes. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.
