NC for 9/4/22 Windslab on E, SE, S and SW aspects above 900m. Localised windslab also on W and NE aspects. Moderate Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Accumulations of moderately bonded windslab will continue to develop, mainly on East through South to South-West aspects above 900 metres. Greatest hazard will be found in wind sheltered locations, gully tops and steep convex features. Fragile cornices will continue to develop above these aspects. More localised accumulations of windslab will be present on West and North-East aspects due to cross loading. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be strong from the North-West, easing slightly during the afternoon. Light snow showers are expected overnight and through Saturday. The freezing level will be around 400 metres before rising slightly during the daytime. Observed Weather Influences: Heavy snow showers, eased during the afternoon. Winds were strong Northerly, very strong during showers. The freezing level was around 600 meters. ObservedSnowStability: Accumulations of moderately bonded windslab have gained depth and become more widespread on East through South to South-West aspects above 900 metres. Isolated accumulations are also present on North-East and West aspects due to cross loading. Wind exposed slopes are scoured and firm. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
