Avalanche Activity

Early in the day, a skier may trigger slab avalanches in fresh wind‑drifted snow, especially on east‑facing slopes. Later, the slabs stabilize, but warm temperatures and some sun increase the likelihood of wet loose snow avalanches, particularly in areas with fresh snow and on sun‑exposed slopes.

En skikjører kan løse ut flakskred i ferske nysnøflak tidlig på dagen, spesielt i østvendte heng. Utover dagen gir varme og sol rask stabilisering, men økt fare for våte løssnøskred i nysnø og solvendte fjellsider.

Snowpack Structure

Snøgrensen ligger på 200–400 moh, lavest kystnært og i sørvendt terreng. Nordvendt over 800 moh finnes fuktig nysnø fra forrige uke. Ellers er snøen grovkornet og smelteomvandlet ned til bakken i de fleste eksponeringer.

Tendency

Rising temperatures, strong daytime sunshine and evening rain increase the danger of wet loose snow avalanches. In lower elevations, very steep sun exposed slopes remain most prone. At higher elevations, areas with recent new snow are most vulnerable when the surface becomes wet.
