Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs require caution.

As a consequence of a sometimes moderate wind from westerly directions, wind slabs formed in the last two days. They can be released. These avalanche prone locations are to be found on very steep slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The number and size of avalanche prone locations will increase with altitude. Natural avalanches: More avalanches are possible, but they will be mostly small, especially on extremely steep slopes.

Snowpack Structure

Some snow will fall in the evening. 20 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell on Thursday above approximately 2000 m. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs are bonding only slowly with the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. The old snowpack is favourably layered. At low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

Some snow will fall on Monday. The danger will increase a little during the day.
