    • Above 2,900 m

Avalanche Activity

The older wind slabs represent the main danger.

The more recent wind slabs can still be released in some cases above approximately 2900 m. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase with altitude. In the other aspects and at lower altitudes the avalanche danger is low (level 1). As the temperature drops hardly any more small and medium-sized dry and moist avalanches are to be expected below approximately 2700 m.

Snowpack Structure

The Avalanche Warning Service currently has only a small amount of information that has been collected in the field. At low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is lying. Above approximately 2700 m snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. The old snowpack will be generally well bonded.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will decrease gradually.
