Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs at intermediate and high altitudes.

Some snow has fallen in some regions. The avalanche prone locations are sometimes covered with new snow. Fresh wind slabs have formed in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The small wind slabs can still be released in some cases especially on extremely steep shady slopes above approximately 2400 m. New snow and wind slabs can especially at their margins be released, but they will be small in most cases.

Snowpack Structure

In some regions 2 to 5 cm of snow, but less in some localities, has fallen above approximately 1800 m. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak. Fresh wind slabs are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. In high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Also at intermediate and high altitudes from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
