Lo esencial

The backcountry and freeriding conditions are mostly favourable. Wind slabs require caution.

Avalanche Activity

The backcountry and freeriding conditions are mostly favourable. Wind slabs require caution.

As a consequence of a moderate to strong wind from southerly directions, small wind slabs formed adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. These can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases in particular on extremely steep shady slopes above approximately 2200 m. The avalanche prone locations are rather rare and are clearly recognisable to the trained eye. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

Wind slabs are lying on soft layers on shady slopes above approximately 2200 m. The old snowpack will be quite well bonded. Shady slopes: The snowpack consists of faceted crystals. Steep sunny slopes: As a consequence of mild temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface.

Tendency

The avalanche conditions are generally favourable.
