In particular very steep slopes and base of rock walls: As a consequence of the new snow medium-sized loose snow avalanches are possible. In particular on shady slopes these can be released in the faceted old snow. As a consequence of a moderate to strong southwesterly wind, avalanche prone wind slabs will form in the course of the day in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls, especially on extremely steep slopes. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack in all aspects. They can be released. Mostly the avalanches are medium-sized and can be released by a single winter sport participant. Caution is to be exercised at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack.
Over a wide area 25 cm of snow, and up to 50 cm in some localities, will fall on Thursday above approximately 2000 m. As a consequence of a moderate to strong southwesterly wind, avalanche prone wind slabs will form on Thursday in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. In all aspects snow depths vary greatly above approximately 2200 m, depending on the infuence of the wind. Below approximately 1800 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. On steep sunny slopes below approximately 2500 m a little snow is lying. The snowpack is not distinctly layered. Shady slopes: The snowpack consists of faceted crystals. Tuesday: The weather conditions gave rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular on very steep sunny slopes. Several small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist avalanches have been released as a consequence of warming.
In some localities increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the strong northwesterly wind.
