As a consequence of falling temperatures the snowpack consolidated.
A clear night will be followed in the early morning by favourable conditions. As the temperature drops there will be an additional decrease in the danger of moist avalanches. On extremely steep slopes only isolated mostly small moist snow slides and avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads. This applies in particular on very steep north facing slopes.
Less snow than usual is lying. On steep sunny slopes below approximately 2200 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. The new snow of last week has settled to a large extent in all aspects and in all altitude zones. The snowpack will be quite well bonded. As a consequence of falling temperatures, the natural activity of moist and wet avalanches has appreciably decreased. Faceted weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on north, northeast and northwest facing slopes.
The avalanche danger will decrease gradually.
