Avalanche Summary
Generally safe avalanche conditions exist. There are two kinds of small avalanche problems you might be able to trigger: wind drifts on the leeward side of a ridgeline where you might trigger a small slab avalanche and loose avalanches where there is two to three feet of cohesionless snow on a very steep slope. In both cases, any avalanche you trigger will be small but if it knocks you over and drags you off a cliff or into a creek they can still be dangerous. If you notice a hard, hollow, wind drift on a steep slope maybe just go around it and if your feet, skis, or machine are sinking through the snow to the ground avoid traveling on slopes steeper than about 40 degrees above dangerous terrain features.
