Avalanche Summary

Strong westerly winds and plenty of new snow for transport will increase your chances of triggering an avalanche. Higher elevation wind-drifted slopes facing north, northeast, and east are the most dangerous. You can trigger an avalanche in the newly drifted snow or deeper on buried weak layers. Smooth rounded surfaces or stiff, hollow slabs below ridges or the sides of steep gullies are likely places to encounter these problems. Cautious decision-making is advised, as rapid loading could set off large natural avalanches that could run further or break wider than expected. Lower-angle, wind-sheltered slopes will provide safer riding options.
