Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE above 8,000 feet. Skiers and riders could trigger soft slabs to a foot in depth in steep, wind-loaded avalanche terrain. Deeper hard slabs, which rest on weak, faceted snow at the base of the snowpack, could also be triggered or be pulled out by surface slides. On Saturday, a skier triggered a 30 inch deep avalanche at an elevation of 10,000 feet on a northeast facing slope of Angle Mountain. The chance of releasing similar slides will increase today with new snow and wind. Evaluate the snowpack and terrain carefully.
