Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A winter storm system is forecasted to impact the area Tuesday. Snow showers and valley rain will move into the area tonight with snowfall of 1 to 3 inches in the mountains by Tuesday morning. Overnight lows will be in the upper twenties and highs Tuesday will be in the mid thirties. Winds will be from the South at twenty miles per hour as a low pressure system approaches the area Tuesday night. The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be LOW in the morning and then rise to MODERATE in the afternoon as warm temperatures and possible rain showers soften the snow surface as Mid elevations and lower. The potential for wet loose avalanches to occur on steep, snow-covered slopes will increase proportionally to the amount of rain and daily warming.
