Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE at all elevations. Over two feet of new snow ending Saturday night combined with strong winds to create slabs to three feet in depth. The slabs rest on two feet of rotten, faceted snow. Activities such as high marking or more than one person at a time on a slope are likely to trigger very dangerous avalanches that could pull out the entire snowpack to the ground. Periods of sunshine will make slopes much more sensitive to triggers. Evaluate snow and terrain carefully to identify features of concern.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Slabs from the storm snow will continue to be sensitive to human triggers especially during periods of direct sunshine on slopes. Triggered slides could be one to six feet in depth and run entire slidepaths. The Avalanche hazard is expected to be CONSIDERABLE in the Tetons and Salt/Greys areas. In the Continental Divide/Togwotee Pass area two feet of new snow rests on a very weak faceted base. Activities such as high marking are likely to initiate large, dangerous slides two to four feet in depth. The avalanche hazard there will be MODERATE.
