Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. In isolated areas at the higher elevations near cliff bands and under cornices the potential exists to trigger surface slabs and deeper hard slabs with depths to five feet. While these slabs could be human triggered it is likely to take larger loads such as snow machines, multiple people on a slope at one time, or a cornice failure to initiate a slide. Periods of sunshine and warming temperatures may increase the sensitivity of these slabs and also provide the chance for loose slide activity.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Some light snow with little accumulation expected is possible through the night and through Thursday. Skies during the day are to be mostly cloudy, temperatures are to rise to the upper twenties to low thirties, and winds are to be light. Above 9000 feet, the avalanche hazard will be Moderate throughout the region. Near cliff bands or under cornices, slabs to two feet in depth lie and deeper slabs also lurk in very steep areas with good wind deposition. Larger triggers such as cornices or snowmachines are likely to be required to initiate slides. The last reported avalanche activity occurred on Sunday. Periods of sunshine and warmer temperatures will increase the sensitivity of slabs and could produce sloughs off steep slopes or rocky areas.
