As a consequence of new snow and a gathering strong southeasterly wind, large wind slabs will form in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as above approximately 2000 m. As the snowfall becomes more intense the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase during the night. Numerous large and, in isolated cases, very large natural avalanches are to be expected, also in all aspects on steep slopes. In avalanche paths that are already filled with snow they can to an increasing extent reach the valleys. The avalanches can occur again, even in paths where avalanches have already been released. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation the peak of avalanche activity will be reached from the second half of the night.

70 to 100 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall until Sunday above approximately 1500 m. The new snow of Sunday is bonding poorly with the old snowpack in all aspects, in particular on wind-protected shady slopes. Towards its surface, the snowpack is unfavourably layered and its surface consists of surface hoar. A lot of snow is lying at intermediate and high altitudes.

The avalanche danger will decrease gradually.
