Wind slabs and wet snow represent the main danger.

In particular along the border with France and along the border with Switzerland in some localities up to 20 cm of snow will fall on Thursday above approximately 2500 m. In the next few hours the wind will be strong over a wide area. The weather conditions gave rise to moistening of the snowpack over a wide area especially at low and intermediate altitudes, this also applies on shady slopes below approximately 2500 m. A lot of snow is lying at intermediate and high altitudes. On Wednesday hardly any avalanches were observed.

Moist avalanches and wet and gliding avalanches are still possible.

Light rain below approximately 2500 m: The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust only at high altitudes. As the moisture increases small and medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible, especially in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation. Between approximately 2300 and 2600 m these avalanche prone locations are more prevalent, caution is to be exercised in particular at the base of rock walls, as well as on very steep grassy slopes. In localities where rain falls the danger will already exist in the morning. Gliding avalanches are still possible. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided. In some localities a little new snow above approximately 2500 m: As a consequence of a gathering strong wind from northwesterly directions, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs will form on Thursday in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. They can be released, even by small loads in isolated cases. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found on very steep slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. In particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions and along the border with Switzerland and along the border with France these avalanche prone locations are more widespread and the danger is slightly greater.
