Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence.

As a consequence of a sometimes moderate wind from westerly directions, sometimes deep wind slabs formed. They can be released. The avalanche prone locations are to be found on steep slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The number and size of avalanche prone locations will increase with altitude. Natural avalanches: Dry avalanches are possible, but they will be mostly small, especially on extremely steep slopes.

Snowpack Structure

20 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen above approximately 2000 m. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs are bonding only slowly with the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. The old snowpack is favourably layered. At low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

The danger of natural avalanches will decrease gradually.
