Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It will be generally dry with the freezing level around the summits. Strong winds will be from the South. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry day with moderate South-Westerly winds. Although the freezing level varied significantly through the day, little thawing of the snowpack occurred due to the dry atmosphere. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack remained hard, icy and stable in all locations. There were some very shallow soft surface deposits from yesterday evening. However, these were not observed to be significant. The avalanche hazard is Low.

Avalanche Activity

LO for 6.2: Remaining dry. Snowpack softening at lower levels but remaining well bonded and stable in all locations Low hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The main snowpack will be found on North to East aspects above 800 metres. At higher levels it will remain hard and icy. At lower levels it will gently thaw. In both cases stability will remain good The avalanche hazard will be Low.
