GC26/3 Light snow PM colder old snow stable, isolated areas unstable windslab gullies+W-NW slopes fragile cornices Avalanche haz Low

Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will re-freeze with the colder conditions maintaining good general stability. Isolated areas of unstable windslab will exist in wind sheltered locations, areas such as summit gully exits and steep scarp slopes with a mainly West to North-West aspect will be most affected. These areas are not expected to be deep or extensive and should in the main be avoidable. Fresh cornices will be fragile. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Light snow showers this evening will die out overnight to leave Sunday dry. Winds through the day will be fresh North-Easterly backing Northerly later. It will be colder than of late with daytime freezing levels around 400 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Mainly dry and settled conditions have affected the area, winds have been fresh Easterly, the freezing level was around 1000 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is mainly to be found in the higher Northerly and Easterly corries, cooler conditions today are forming a thin surface crust in many areas, stability is generally good. The avalanche hazard is Low.
