Forecast Snow Stability: Through the period areas of unstable windslab will develop on wind-sheltered North-West through North to East slopes and gullies above 900 metres. These areas will become deeper and more extensive through the day. Cornice collapse and avalanches are likely. Exposed windward aspect will be scoured and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Heavy showers throughout the period will fall as snow above 600 metres. Gale force winds will be from the South or South-West. The freezing level will be about 700 metres. Observed Weather Influences: It was cloudy with the occasional light shower falling as wet snow on the highest tops and rain at other levels. The freezing level was around 1000 metres. Moderate winds were from the South. ObservedSnowStability: Above 1000 metres the snowpack has frozen and consolidated in the colder conditions. Below this level it continues to gently thaw. In both cases stability is generally good. The avalanche hazard is Low.
