A fresh round of snow, wind, and warming will test a thick slab that overlies weak layers formed by a decomposed crust from the Solstice among other deeply buried weak layers. You can trigger very large, deep slab avalanches as you are approaching steep slopes, so give them a wide berth. Deep slabs require a large trigger, such as wind loading, a large group of people, a snowmobile, or a cornice fall.
As the increasing storm increases your likelihood of triggering these deadly slabs, it becomes imperative to avoid the terrain that could produce them. Stay out from under any large, open feature with fresh or recent wind loading. Don't assume that one or more riders traveling without incident on a slope changes your risk of traveling on it. This problem appears most prominent in the eastern half of the zone, although it will be tested more by the incoming storm in the western parts of the zone.
In the open foothills, avalanches may be easier to initiate. Stay off of steep slopes if they have not avalanched yet, as they may only be awaiting a trigger. Northerly aspects with recent wind loading are the most likely places to trigger these. Recent avalanches on similar slopes should be all you need to avoid steep slopes nearby.
