Fresh wind slabs above approximately 2700 m. The avalanche danger will increase during the day.
The new snow and wind slabs of the weekend can be released, especially by large additional loads, in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2700 m. In particular on steep slopes and on wind-loaded slopes more avalanches are possible. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will already soften in the late morning. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation more small and medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible above approximately 2400 m. In some places the avalanches can be triggered in the faceted old snow and reach large size in isolated cases. The backcountry touring conditions in the morning, after a clear night, are quite favourable. Backcountry tours and ascents to alpine cabins should be started and concluded early.
The new snow of Saturday has settled to a large extent in all aspects. This snow remains in some cases prone to triggering in particular on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2700 m. In addition wind slabs formed in particular in gullies and bowls. The old snowpack is faceted. Distinct weak layers exist deeper in the old snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes. Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
The danger of dry and moist avalanches will increase during the day.
