Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will be deposited in wind-sheltered areas throughout the forecast period. Greatest accumulations will be on East through South to South-West aspects above 800 metres. Fragile cornices will build above these aspects. The old snowpack will be re-frozen and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be strong generally North-North-Westerly throughout the forecast period. Showers are expected throughout the period, falling as snow above 300-400 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Winds were mainly North-North-Easterly, strong at first then easing to moderate. After some overnight snowfall above 400 metres, the morning was mainly dry, then snow showers above about 400 metres during the afternoon. The freezing level was around 500 metres. ObservedSnowStability: At first there was a dusting of snow above 400 metres. Localised deposits of windslab are present in wind-sheltered areas, mainly on South-East through South to West aspects above 850 metres. Accumulations are not extensive or deep. The old snowpack is re-frozen and stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
