NC for 28.1: Isolated, unstable windslab around corrie rims, gully tops, on NE to SE aspects above 1000m. Elsewhere stable. Low Haz.

Forecast Snow Stability: New isolated, shallow accumulations of unstable windslab will develop above 1000 metres on North-East to South-East aspects. These will be generally avoidable and confined to wind sheltered locations such as, around corrie rims and gully exits. Elsewhere the old snowpack will remain firm, well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: During Friday night a short spell of light snowfall is expected on very strong South-Westerly winds. Dry conditions through the day, with fresh to strong Westerly winds. The freezing level will fall to around 900 metres, before rising towards summit levels by the end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: A dry day with light to moderate Westerly winds. The freezing level rose 1000 metres by midday. ObservedSnowStability: There is dusting of new snow above 600 metres. Isolated and shallow accumulations of unstable windslab have developed on North-East to South-East aspects above 1000 metres. These accumulations are mostly avoidable and confined to areas such as, corrie rims and gully exits. Elsewhere the old snowpack is firm well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
