Avalanche Activity

Significant warming. From the early morning as the moisture increases there will be an increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches. In addition the wind slabs must be taken into account.

The wind slabs can be released easily by a single winter sport participant above approximately 2000 m. In some cases the avalanches are medium-sized. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in all aspects and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls above approximately 2000 m. In particular on rocky sunny slopes small and medium-sized natural avalanches are possible. Backcountry tours and off-piste skiing should be concluded timely.

Snowpack Structure

The wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at elevated altitudes. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften quickly. This applies in particular on steep sunny slopes.
