Wind slab
- Above 2,100 m
The older wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and generally at elevated altitudes.

More dry avalanches are possible, even medium-sized ones. These can as before be released by a single winter sport participant. This applies especially on very steep slopes adjacent to ridgelines. The sometimes strong wind will transport the loosely bonded old snow. In particular, however, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs will form in particular in the vicinity of peaks in the afternoon.
The sometimes deep wind slabs of last week have bonded quite well with the old snowpack. The snowpack will be stable over a wide area. In particular steep sunny slopes: Towards its surface, the snowpack consists of rounded crystals and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is strong in many cases. Shady slopes: The snowpack is fairly homogeneous and its surface consists of surface hoar. The weather conditions brought about a substantial settling of the near-surface layers in particular on sunny slopes.
In particular in the regions exposed to the foehn wind light snowfall above approximately 2000 m. Up to 2000 m rain will fall. As the snowfall level rises the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses. Gradual increase in danger of dry and moist avalanches in particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation.
