Forecast Snow Stability: The old snowpack will remain stable. Localised and shallow areas of fresh unstable windslab will develop from early morning onwards mainly on North to East aspects above 1000 metres with features such as gullies and corrie rims most affected. Fragile cornices will develop through the day. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Gale force South-Westerly winds overnight gradually ease during the day. Rain in the evening and first part of the night gradually turns to snow showers to lower elevations with snow above 600 metres by the end of the period. The freezing level will drop from above the summits to 700 metres by the end of the period. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry morning with snow in the afternoon turning to rain. South-Westerly winds increased to become storm force in the afternoon. After a cold start the freezing level had risen to around 1100 metres by 3pm. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack remained stable; frozen and firm in the morning, softening in the afternoon. New snow accumulations were not significant. The avalanche hazard is Low.
