Lo esencial

At the mid and upper elevations soft surface slabs one to three feet in depth and hard slabs up to five feet in depth could be human triggered on steep wind loaded avalanche paths. As the day progresses increasing winds will drift additional snow (weight) onto these slabs. This will increase the potential for them to be triggered by backcountry users who venture onto them. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations.

Avalanche Discussion

A WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued by the National Weather Service. A very powerful Pacific storm system will slam into the area. Heavy snowfall and very strong south to southwest winds will impact the mountains. A brief period of rain or rain mixed with snow is expected in the valleys. Snowfall totals of 10 to 20 inches in the mountains and 5 to 10 inches in the valleys are expected. The Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center has issued an AVALANCHE WARNING for the mountainous areas of Teton, Lincoln and Sublette Counties. This very powerful storm will rapidly increase the general avalanche hazard to HIGH. Large natural and human triggered avalanches are possible and could run full track. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended.
