Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today. Up to eighteen inches of heavy snow and high winds over the past two days have created slabs over lighter, weaker snow from prior storms. These slabs could be up to two feet in depth at upper elevations on wind loaded slopes. Slides could be triggered today by riders and skiers on steep slopes, particularly near cliffs and rocky areas. High marking riders should be especially aware as steep slopes may release even after they have been crossed many times. Yet more people have reported being caught in slides over the last few days in the Tetons. Self rescue skills and equipment are essential for safe travel in avalanche prone terrain.
