Lo esencial

Triggering wet snow avalanches will be possible at all elevations and especially on steep slopes in the direct sun. Most avalanches will be small and unlikely to bury a person. Keep in mind that small avalanches in steep terrain can still have consequences if you get knocked off your stance or get pushed into terrain traps such as rocks and cliffs. As the surface snow becomes wet and slushy, consider moving to more shaded slopes or lower angle terrain.

    We are in a typical spring diurnal pattern with freezing surface snow overnight and warm sunny days giving us the beloved corn cycle. After going through multiple melt freeze cycles, the upper pack has had time to consolidate. I do not expect wet loose avalanches to be large, but always keep an eye on changing conditions. If the surface snow becomes wet and slushy down to boot top depth or more, avalanches have the chance to increase in size. Pay attention on big steep slopes and observe what terrain is below you. It does not take much moving snow to cause you to lose your footing in steep terrain. Terrain traps such as cliffs, and narrow constrictions can lead to a worse outcome if you go for a slide.  Roller balls and recent wet loose avalanches are good indicators that the surface snow is losing cohesion and you can trigger a wet loose avalanche. 

Avalanche Discussion

Keep a lookout for cornices at ridgetops especially in the upper elevations. Be cautious when approaching ridgetops and avoid walking out onto a cornice. They can break under the weight of a person and send you falling onto the slope below.
