Lo esencial

Only above treeline on easterly aspects will you be able to trigger small, isolated pockets of wind drifted snow. A shallow snowpack exists. Exercise caution when traveling.

This problem exists in steep terrain beneath ridgelines and in gullies. Textured snow or large pillows of snow adjacent to a scoured surface are evidence of wind loading. Being caught or knocked off your feet would surely not end well, given all the buried hazards.

Avalanche Discussion

A tour to the ridgeline of Powder Bowl was taken yesterday. Check out the observation with further details HERE.

Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. By and large, the most notable hazard is still the predominantly shallow snowpack. The warm temperatures have made the snow mushy and sticky. If you choose to ski, take it slow and easy. Look for slopes with less rocky debris to provide the safest skiing.
