Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will be deposited throughout the period in wind-sheltered areas. Greatest accumulations will be on North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres, where avalanches are likely. Fragile cornices will build above these aspects. Slopes exposed to the winds will generally be scoured and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be very strong Southerly or South-South-Easterly overnight and during the morning, then from midday easing and veering South-Westerly. A period of snowfall above around 800 metres is expected during the evening, then heavy precipitation during the day, falling as snow above around 1000 metres through the morning and to lower levels during the afternoon as the freezing level drops to 500 metres. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry day with strong South-South-Easterly winds. The freezing level rose to around 800 metres.
