Forecast Snow Stability: Localised moderately bonded windslab will persist in wind sheltered locations on East to South aspects above 900 metres. More extensive distribution encountered on the higher mountains north of the river Dee. Limited distribution only, south of the river. Further windslab development expected on Southerly aspects during the afternoon, due to redistribution of lying snow. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: No precipitation forecast until late afternoon when there will be some very light snowfall. Light Southerly winds overnight will back to become strong North-North-Easterlies by the end of the period. 400 rising to 500 metre freezing level. Observed Weather Influences: A dry day with good deal of sunshine on the mountains south of the Dee. Cloudier further north. Moderate, easing to light, West veering West-North-Westerly winds. Freezing level around 450 metres by late morning. ObservedSnowStability: There is a thin covering of snow on most aspects from glen level. Localised, moderately bonded windslab is present in wind sheltered locations on East to South aspects above 900 metres. South of the River Dee, distribution is fairly limited with more extensive accumulations present on the higher mountains north of the river. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
