Quick report

Despite mostly bluebird skies, the cooler temps and wind seemed to keep solar aspects relatively firm. At 2pm the south face of Castle had softened somewhat, but was heavy and slushy. No sign of wet loose instability. I dug a few hastys in N/NE aspects at ~8000 ft to see what they look like before the new loading tonight. Mostly firm and consolidated, but I did find patches (~10 m^2) of 4F snow under crusts or in sheltered areas. These softer weaker layers were about 10 cm thick. Grains looked like a mix of faceting rounds and wind deposit. There are some impressive cornices on north-ish aspects. No sign of recent failures.
