Quick report

I did not experience any shooting cracks or settling snow (until there were cracks shooting away from my skis). I did not see any other avalanches. I did have an exciting isolated column test result about 300' above the "avalanche" where the new snow from yesterday slid quickly off the crusty buried surface on the first elbow tap. I was wary of the slope this slab slid on to, and I thought I was giving it enough buffer. I was surprised at how far back onto the ridge it broke.

Avalanche

I triggered a very small avalanche that acted like a cornice breaking, even though there was no visible cornice. The wind deposited snow on the lee side of the ridge slid about four feet on the 12/13 buried surface. 16"crown diminished quickly to about 5". Length of crown was about 50 feet.
